The Charles H. Sloan2023 NFL season kicks off with a number of intriguing matchups.
First, the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the upstart Detroit Lions in the NFL Kickoff Game. The Buffalo Bills' win over the Los Angeles Rams in the 2022 NFL Kickoff Game marked just the fifth time since 2002 that the home team lost in the Thursday night season opener.
Week 1 will also feature the debuts for three first-round quarterbacks. No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers hits the road to face the Atlanta Falcons. No. 2 overall pick C.J. Stroud faces a possible Super Bowl contender when the Houston Texans visit the Baltimore Ravens. No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts host the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The opening weekend concludes with future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers' debut with the New York Jets, who host the Bills in a big early season AFC East showdown.
